Lonesome Vice Magic Harvest; Alexandre Geindre
Loneome Vice Magic Harvest was composed by a French unknown musician called Alexandre Geindre.
For what I can figure, Geindre has made songs for advertising and fashion shows. Discogs shows us that Geindre has two songs in two compilations of songs played in Fashion Weeks's shows. One of these songs is Lonesome Vice...
The song received s little attention because of a very cute commercial with dogs by Geico Company, which you can watch below.

Sunday with a Flu; Yodelice
There is a coincidence and a finding of lazyness in the post today.
The latter because I discovered a few hours ago one Facebook's page that reunites songs with whistling too (of course the amount of songs on my blog is unachievable!). But I realized that I should be the one keeping that page. Well... Lazyness 1 x 0 me.
"Sunday With a Flu" was on the top of this page, and because I didn't know it, I quickly clicked to listen to it and decided to post it today. Then I saw the coincidence.
"Sunday With a Flu" was composed and is played by a French musician called Maxim Nucci, best known by his alter ego named Yodelice. Nucci created this melancholic persona in a visit to USA. Returning to Europe, he wrote some of his songs in a folk/ethnic style.¹
This song was released in Yodelice's 2009 album called "Tree of Life". According to Last.FM, it is his most famous song.

The coincidence? My little sister got the flu this weekend.
Closed my door, forgot my key
Missed my bus in the pouring rain
It's been the usual sunday with a flu
And I just can't get over you
Burnt my toast and lost your number
Cut my finger, spilled my beer
It's been the usual sunday with a flu
And I just can't get over you
I put your stockings in my purple boots
What if I don't get over you?
Had a chat and left my hat
Ate my dog and walked my cat
It's been the usual sunday with a flu
And I just can't get over you
I put your stockings in my purple boots
What if I don't get over you?
I put your stockings in my purple boots
What if I don't get over you?
Called a cabbage threw the garbage
Asked for help and got some kelp
It's been the usual sunday with a flu
And I just can't get over you
I put your stockings in my purple boots
What if I don't get over you?

Sur le Plafond; Mansfield.TYA
"Sur le Plafond" by Mansfield.TYA is a whistling song nominated by an anonymous visitor and I must thank him or her for the tip.
I don't find the lyrics nor much information about this French duo formed by Julia Lanoë and Carla Pallone.* Mansfield.TYA seems to be Carla Pallone's secondary musical project, since she also sings with the band Sexy Sushi.
This song was released in the 2009 album called "Seules au bout de 23 secondes". "Sur le Plafond" means "on the ceiling" and that's all I know about it. Its video is kind of funny and sadly weird. Just like the song.

Tu Misterio; Gotan Project
Gotan Project is a musical trio formed in France by Philippe Cohen Solal (French), Eduardo Makaroff (Argentine) and Christoph H. Müller (Swiss).
You know, Argentinos are ours hermanos and we share more than the title of best football players in the world, we also share ours music styles and the tango is deeply appreciated here. Knowing that, many years ago I was looking for an avant-garde tango group, which would mix the preciosity of the old milongas and some nowadays beat. That is exactly what Gotan Project means!
They released four studio albums and in the latest is our whistling tango. The 2010 "Tango 3.0" contains "Tu Misterio" a song with a catchy whistling in it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Tu misterio no lo entiendo
Palpitación de mujer
Y en el vaiven de esta illusion
Mis ganas de y tu sudor
Quiero saber si ya estas
Lista para el amor
Te acaricio con mi aliento
Siento tu respiración
En el lugar donde apoyas
La seda rosa de tu piel
Late mi cuore y vas a ver
Que va a estar todo bien

The music video includes the same boy (David Beaudoin) from Sinclar's "Love Generation" and "Rock This Party (Everybody Dance Now)" music clips. In the video, the boy wakes up and notices on the news, that the Earth is going to be destroyed by a meteor. He decides to build a space ship of his own and takes his dog with him in the space ship. During the construction of the spaceship, toys came out from under the boy's bed, and start dancing, while Bob Sinclar appears in the video as a tiny person playing "World, Hold On (Children of the Sky)" using cookies as records. The boy takes no notice of either the toys or Bob Sinclar. The boy then launches the space ship and shoots through the Solar System. The Solar System looks exactly like the poster in the boy's room. All the planets are labeled with information including diameter and other facts. In outer space, he sees the meteor approaching the earth. He fires hundreds of basketballs at the meteor, destroys it, and saves the earth. He then lands the spaceship in his room. Back on earth, he gets a reward and media coverage, presenting him as a hero. While he is getting praise, his mother comes and kisses him on the cheek. This wakes him up and causes him to realize that it was all a dream.
Oh yeah, yeah...
Open up your heart, what do you feel?
Open up your heart, what do you feel?...
is real
The Big Bang may be a million years away
But I can't think of a better time to say
World, hold on
Instead of messing with our future, open up inside
World, hold on
Wonder you will have the answer to the children of the sky
Children of the sky...
Look inside, you'll find a deeper love
The kind that only comes from high above
If you ever meet your inner child, don't cry
Tell them everything is gonna be alright
World, hold on
Come on, everybody in the universe, come on
World, hold on
Wonder you will have the answer to the children of the sky
Children of the sky... alright
Open up your heart
Tell me, how do you feel
Listen now, tell them everything, right here right now
Alright, everybody, here in the world
You are all the children, alright
Together now, unite, and fight... oooh
Open up you heart, no, peace, love for everyone
Oh, no no no no no, alright, to the four corners of the world
Sing it loud, sing it loud, sing it loud loud loud
world hold on on
sing it loud, sing it proud
everybody, yeah yeah yeah yeah, oooh
Don't take no for an answer, no no, not today
Right here, spread love, everybody join together now
One [race], one heart, love and unity, everybody sing
yeah!
World, hold on
Come on, everybody in the universe, come on
World, hold on
Wonder you will have to answer to the children of the sky
World, hold on
Come on, everybody in the universe, come on
World, hold on
Wonder you will have to answer to the children of the sky

J'ai Coupé le Téléphone; Françoise Hardy
Talking about divas, I introduce you Françoise Hardy.
Non.
Although Hardy is better known in her own country, France, she doesn’t cut a sorry figure around the world. In part, because she “made periodic attempts to capture the international market with English-language recordings” in her early career.
Hardy’s style “draw from French pop traditions, lightweight '50s teen idol rock, girl groups, and sultry jazz and blues”, according to AllMusic.com.
“J’ai Coupé le Téléphone” was released in 1969 as a single and it’s B-side was the song “Les Doigts dans la porte”. The song appeared in an album in 1970, the first compilation by the chanteuse, called “Françoise”.*

Zazie dans le Métro; Fiorenzo Carpi and André Pontin
Looking for others whistling songs made by films, I found this article written by Terry Bigham on TopTenz.net containing, of course, ten songs that were created specially by their films or TV series. “Zazie dans le Métro” song is Bigham’s #3. He said: “I adore the carefree Gallic charm of that whistled theme, with its soupcon of sorrow at the brevity of childhood.”
This Franco-Italian film is a comedy directed by Louis Malle released in 1960, based on the novel by Raymond Queneau. In IMDb there is a concise review written by Claudio Carvalho which I’m posting here:
“When the mother of Zazie (Catherine Demongeot) comes to Paris to meet her lover, she leaves her daughter with her uncle Gabriel (Philippe Noiret). However the reckless and uncontrollable nephew leaves Gabriel’s apartment and decides to visit Paris by subway. However the employees are on strike and the runaway girl gets Gabriel into trouble in a chaotic Paris.”
I couldn’t find who is the whistler, so I am assigning the authorship of this song to the music producers Fiorenzo Carpi and André Pontin.

Serre-moi; Tryo
I heard the whistling song of the day playing my new favorite and completely addictive online game: Transformice! For who doesn’t know it yet, it consists in to control a mouse with the arrow keys to try to catch a cheese in somewhere in the screen (they say “map”) and go to the hole as fast as you can or fast enough to do it on the time. Reading like I wrote may sound boring, but believe me, Transformice is a funny and intelligent way to pass your time. The great thing is that you play against or with or even pro (it depends on your mood) other people who control their mice too! So you can figure what a kind of hilarious moves and attitudes we can do.
When you play in a room that has a moderator you can listen to the songs he or she decides to put on. For instance, now I’m listening to “We are the champions”. But sooner I was playing on the French server and “le moderateur” played this gorgeous French song.
PS1: this is NOT an advertising post. Not at all.
--
“Serre-moi” apparently means “hold me” (“segure-me” em minha língua natal) and the whole song is a request to his angel come back “A nos tragédies, à nos adieux / Reviens-moi, reviens-moi / Tu partiras mieux comme ça” and love one each other with all their hearts “Rendons-nous amants / qui se passionnent, qui se saignent”.
Now citing the always good Wikipedia: “Tryo is a French language ‘unplugged’ reggae acoustic band, popular in Europe and in Quebec, with three French guitarists, a Latin American percussionist, and a producer: Guizmo, Christophe Mali, Manu Eveno, Daniel ‘Danielito’ Bravo and Bibou.”
“Serre-moi” was released in the 2003 studio album called “Gran de sable” and it is not a single. The website of the band is here, Tryo’s MySpace account is here and a picture of members is here:

Embrasse-moi dessus bord
Viens mon ange, retracer le ciel
J'irai crucifier ton corps
Pourrais-je dépunaiser tes ailes?
Embrasser, te mordre en même temps
Enfoncer mes ongles dans ton dos brûlant
Te Supplier de me revenir
J'aime tes larmes quand tu aimes
Ta sueur le sang,Rendons-nous amants
Qui se passionnent, qui se saignent
J'aime quand mon écorché est vivant
Je ne donne pas long feu
A nos tragédies, à nos adieux
Reviens-moi, reviens-moi

Raid the Radio; General Elektriks
General Elektriks is the codename for the French music artist Hervé Salters who, despite being French lives in California, USA, for more than ten years. There, in Berkeley, he released his album "Good City for Dreamers", which received many many many good critics.
"Raid the Radio" is the track #2. Someone told me, here in this same blog, that the whistling song "Let's Go Surfing" by The Drums is sampled from this one. Well, they are quite similar, but I didn't find any information on the internet about this "sampling".
With you, RAID THE RADIO!
With you, RAID THE RADIO!
Raid the radio!
'Cause we're tired of hearing the same old song
We're gonna change the dial of something new
Bring some truth to this town
Call your station, tell them we're coming
Imagination, is what were demanding
We won't stray, you'll hear us scream and shout
Till they play, songs we can dream about...
Across the nation, dance to a different drum
Raid the radio!
'Cause we're tired of hearing the same old song
We're gonna change the dial to something new
Bring some truth to this town
Free the DJ's, burn the ties
Let the music the play electrify
Bring out the poets, bring out the punks
Watch them give rise to a brand new funk
Across the nation, dance to a different drum
Raid the radio!
'Cause we're tired of hearing the same old song
We're gonna change the dial to something new
Bring some truth to this town

Happy Hour; Svinkels
Do you remember that I told here that there was a french rap in which they only whistle on the studio version? And it was not time to post it yet? I think it's time now. It's not a Tupac song but it’s on too!
“Happy Hour” was composed for Svinkels’ fourth album named “Bons pour l’Asile” from 2003. This song was produced by Ludovic Bource, as we can read here. And that’s all! I looked for something else but there’s few things about the Svinkels and almost none interview. To worth it, my French is terrible...
There’s not a music video or also a decent live record, so I can only give you the audio and one picture of the trio. If at least they were handsome... =P

Get drunk, get stupid, get fucked up, get freaky
Happy hour
[Nikus]
A voir l'heure j'avoue qu'ça donne envie d'avoir à boire

From September to October, from Mexico to France. And from France, Yelle.
Yelle is the name of a french electropop band or a pseudonym of the singer who leads the trio, Julie Budet, formed also by GrandMarnier and Tepr, I don’t know. “Porquoi Yelle? Je m’appele Julie, donc aucun rapport! Ça vient de Yel, pour enjoy your life.
In her debut album from 2007, it’s the song “Ce Jeu”, which moreover became a single in 2008, peaking #15 in the radios of the France.
They are saying she has a Kate Perry’s style and look, but I can’t stop to think she’s more like a French Gwen Stefani.

In her debut album from 2007, it’s the song “Ce Jeu”, which moreover became a single in 2008, peaking #15 in the radios of the France.
They are saying she has a Kate Perry’s style and look, but I can’t stop to think she’s more like a French Gwen Stefani.

Fou et telemement evident
Que je n'trouve plus de sens
A ce jeu excitant
Si bon mais si lassant
Tu aimes me manipuler
Tu aimes me manipuler
Tu aimes me manipuler
Et j'aime en faire autant
Nous sommes tout deux victime
De ce doux jeu d'amants
Je me perd parfois
Tu aimes me manipuler
Et j'aime en faire autant
Nous sommes tout deux victime
De ce doux jeu d'amants

“Whistle”; Sporto Kantès
I’d like to post this song tomorrow, because it’s friday and friday is the right day to relax and see cool videos before we’re out. But tomorrow isn’t another friday and I believe I have a better one to put here.
Anyway, any day and any hour is time to relax, to listen cool whistling songs and go to sleep with it on our mind! And if you caught the spirit, I give to you... Sporto Kantès!

What a weeeeeird name for a band, huh? Not a band, a duo. This Drum & Bass french duo formed by Benjamin Sportes and Nicolas Kantorovwicz took each one his surnames and exchanged their last parts.
They have been together since 90’s when the Europe was invaded by a eletronic wave. His biggest hit is this which they whistle, which had already been used in a Renault Twingo commercial.
I think the song was composed all around the whistle, just see its name. But as what I think shouldn’t worth too much (or anything) I’m still looking for infos.
Just an advice: I couldn’t upload the entire song, I don’t know what is happening, I just can’t. If anyone can upload it in 4Shared.com I’d appreciate it too much! See ya!
When I got whistle
When I got whistle
When the weather colored bee
You can't describe
What's in your mind
Your love is sweet
But you'r not mine
I can't denied what I can't see
You'r just the one
Who cares for me
But I wanna be... free
When I got whistle
When I got whistle
When the weather colored bee

Ulysse; Ridan
WoW! Found another one! And listen it! “Ulysse” is the most gracious song I ever post! La plus jolie! And was composed and sung by a rapper. What a crazy country! Where even the rappers are sensitive! J'aime la France!
Ridan, whose real name is Nadir Kouidri (read Ridan backwards), mixes his influence of rap with what the french people call varieté, a kind of light pop. So the result is a calm and relaxing melody with politicized and “rough” lyrics.

To write “Ulysse” Ridan was inspired by a famous poem by Joachim du Bellay. The poem is here for those who have patience. ^^Does the whistle was also inspired by the poem? If someone will read it or have already read it and could tell me, please, don't be shy!
The music video is so dreamlike and beautiful than the song. The only thing I can say is... Enjoy it!
Qui pollue nos chemins, soi-disant pavés d'or.

This week I will try to post only french songs! Seulement les chansons françaises! It's a very difficult challenge, but at least I have one whistling tune and it's a beginning. However, it's monday and I'll have the rest of the week to find another ones.
Our singer of the day born in Boulogne-Billancourt in November 1975, performs only under his first name, writes his own songs and in 2005 released his third album “Caravane”, which led him to the mainstream, and in this album there is our song.
“Chanson pour Patrick Dewaere” is about a relationship that ends and he finds himself between thoughs of the ruthless life that passes by and the memories of his lost love. Raphaël sings with deep sensitivity and when he whistles it seemed to me our resignation that doesn't dare to face the death.
In a website dedicated to him there is a compilation of many interviews he did, and about this song he said:
There's not a videoclip. Mais sifflez! Sifflez!

Love Generation; Bob Sinclar
Now is Saturday Night! Enough those romantic songs! This one is for the ravers who frequent here!
Okay, this song is very old (2005 seems like a millenium ago, doesn't?), but everybody in that faraway year whistled it and I'm sure you are doing it right now, remembering how delicious was to be younger!
“Love Generation” was produced by Bob Sinclar and Gary Pine did vocals. I just discover that this song made a great sucess in Australia, reaching #1 on top parades and I only can imagine thousands of people dancing this contagious hit in the streets around Sydney Opera House, like a Brazilian carnival! :P~
The videoclip need to be mentioned ’cause it’s amazing! A boy riding his bike around US cities like this ride was a dream. A dream so close to be realized! I think this is the spirit of every Saturday night; one night for our wishes come through!
That’s all for now. I have to go. You should be the same... go out with your friends, dance all night long and feel the love generation!
From Jamaica to the world,
It's just love,
It's just love,
Yeah!
Why most the children play in the street?,
Broken arms can fade the dreams,
Peace on Earth to everyone that you meet,
Don't you worry, it could so sweet,
Just look to the rainbow, you will see
Sun will shine till eternity,
I've got so much love in my heart,
No one can tear it apart,
Yeah,
Feel the love generation,
Yeah, yeah, yeah,
Feel the love generation,
C'mon c'mon c'mon c'mon yeah,
(Whistling.....)
Feel the love generation,
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Feel the love generation,
Ooohhh yeah-yeah,
Don't worry about a thing,
It's gonna be all right,
Don't worry about a thing,
It's gonna be all right,
Don't worry about a thing,
It's gonna be all right,
Gonna be, gonna, gonna, gonna be all right,
Why most the children play in the street?,
Broken arms can fade the dreams
Peace on Earth to everyone that you meet,
Don't you worry, it could so sweet,
Just look to the rainbow, you will see
