Whistle While You Work; Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Today is International Workers’ Day!

This song is for people who (like me), unfortunately, are working this Holiday...
---

Today we're gonna talk about the most known tune from the movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The lyrics of “Whistle While You Work” were written back in 1937 by Larry Morey and the melody was composed by Frank Churchill;¹ it was sung (and whistled, who knows?) by Adriana Caselotti, then 18 years old. About her, we can read on IMDB.com that “[Walt Disney] was looking for a fresh and natural voice, and asked her father if any of his students might be suitable, but on hearing Adriana's voice realized his search was over.Wikipedia states that her payment for this movie was US$970!

This movie is highly praised by great names of cinema, like Charles Chaplin and Orson Welles. I think the website Rotten Tomatoes explains it very well: “With its involving story and characters, vibrant art, and memorable songs, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs set the animation standard for decades to come.

According to another article from Wikipedia, “[the movie] was the first full-length cel-animated feature in motion picture history, as well as the first animated feature film produced in America, the first produced in full color, the first to be produced by Walt Disney, and the first in the Walt Disney Animated Classics canon.

And this is it. Have a good holiday!

...we only have to wish that the following excerpt of the song is true, “the time will fly so whistle while you work.” Well, according to this article on DailyMail.co.uk, it’s absolutely feasible.

Just whistle while you work
And cheerfully together we can tidy up the place
So hum a merry tune
It won't take long when there's a song to help you set the pace

And as you sweep the room
Imagine that the broom is someone that you love
And soon you'll find you're dancing to the tune

When hearts are high the time will fly so whistle while you work
