Love Song No. 7; Clap Your Hands Say Yeah

Now that you're hear and see
Everyone of us seem to take the wrong way home

Now that you're safe with me
Trying to get a handle on the neighbor's lawn

We're safe and sound
So safe for now

We're safe and sound
So safe for now

We're safe and sound
So safe for now

We're safe and sound
So safe for now

How does it taste to be swinging away for the night?
Doctor said "Son, you should carry a gun be alright
But it's the way that you talk and it's the way that you move around"
Gravity's one thing and
Gravity's something, but

Hows about coming down?
There's a time and place in which to be alone
(But lately it just don't seem so alluring)
You're no good not around
Your elevator skipping all me best-dressed floors

We're safe and sound
So safe for now

We're safe and sound
So safe for now

We're safe and sound
So safe for now

We're safe and sound
So safe, oh

Weird but you're back talking

Here Comes my Baby; The Tremeloes

In the midnight moonlight
I'll be walking a long and lonely mile,
And every time I do,
I keep seeing this picture of you

Here comes my baby, here she comes now,
And-a it becomes as no surprise to me
with another guy,

Well, here comes my baby, here she comes now,
Walking with a love,
With a love that's oh so fine
Never to be mine, no matter how I try,

You'll never walk alone,
and you're forever talking on the phone
I try to call you names,
but every time it comes out the shame

Here comes my baby

Georgy Girl; The Seekers

"Georgy Girl", the title song to the film Georgy Girl, performed by The Seekers, was a #1 Australian hit, and a #3 UK hit in late 1966 and into early 1967; in the United States, the song proved to be the Seekers' highest charting single, just missing the top spot, reaching #2 on the Billboard singles charts.

The song was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song (music by Tom Springfield, lyrics by Jim Dale).

In 1970, the film was adapted for a short-lived Broadway musical of the same name.

The song appeared at both the beginning and end of the film, both times with markedly different lyrics (and with different lyrics to those in the commercially released version).

The Seekers UK album, Come the Day, was titled Georgy Girl in the US.¹

Hey there, Georgy girl
Swingin' down the street so fancy-free
Nobody you meet could ever see
The loneliness there inside you
Hey there, Georgy girl
Why do all the boys just pass you by?
Could it be you just don't try
Or is it the clothes you wear?

You're always window shopping
But never stopping to buy
So shed those dowdy feathers
And fly a little bit
Hey there, Georgy girl
There's another Georgy deep inside
Bring out all the love you hide and,
Oh, what a change there'd be
The world would see a new Georgy girl

Hey there, Georgy girl
Dreamin'; of the someone you could be
Life is a reality, you can't always run away
Don't be so scared of changing
And rearranging yourself
It's time for jumping down
From the shelf a little bit

Hey there, Georgy girl
There's another Georgy deep inside
Bring out all the love you hide and,
Oh, what a change there'd be
The world would see a new Georgy girl

Clair; Gilbert O’Sullivan

"Gilbert O'Sullivan is an Irish singer-songwriter, best known for his early 1970s hits 'Alone Again (Naturally)', 'Clair' and 'Get Down'. The music magazine, Record Mirror, voted him the No. 1 UK male singer of 1972.

"Worldwide he has charted sixteen top forty discs; including six number one songs, the first of which was 1970's 'Nothing Rhymed' (for further information see Gilbert O'Sullivan discography)."¹

"'Clair' is a popular song by Irish singer and songwriter Gilbert O'Sullivan and is one of his biggest-selling singles. Written by O'Sullivan and produced by Gordon Mills, it was the number one single in the UK for two weeks in November 1972 and peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US. It was also O'Sullivan's second and last number one hit on the U.S. Easy Listening chart, after 'Alone Again (Naturally)'.

"The song is the love song of an uncle for his young niece, though for the first part of the song, the ambiguous text leads one to think that it is from one adult to another, especially that the brief instrumental introduction is the sound of Gilbert whistling, before he comes in. The real Clair was the young daughter of O'Sullivan's producer-manager, Gordon Mills, by the model Jo Waring, and the little girl's giggling is heard at the end of this song. The instrumental break in the middle section is done half a step up from A to B-Flat, before going back to A.

"'Clair' was included in Sullivan's album Back to Front (1972). An Italian version was performed in 1973 by the crooner Johnny Dorelli. A cover by Singers Unlimited was sampled by producer J Dilla for the Slum Village song 'Players'."²

Clair
The moment I met you, I swear.
I felt as if something, somewhere,
Had happened to me,
which I couldn’t see.
And then, the moment I met you, again.
I knew in my heart
that we were friends.
It had to be so,
it couldn’t be no.
But try as hard as I might do,
I don’t know why.
You get to me in a way
I can’t describe.
Words mean so little
when you look up and smile.
I don’t care what people say,
to me you’re more than a child
Oh, Clair.
Clair

Clair
If ever a moment so rare
Was captured for all to compare.
That moment is you
in all that you do.
But why in spite of our
age difference do I cry.
Each time I leave you
I feel I could die.
Nothing means more to me
than hearing you say,
"I’m going to marry you.
Will you marry me?
Oh hurray!"
Oh, Clair.
Clair

Clair
I’ve told you before
"Don’t you dare!"
"Get back into bed."
"Can’t you see that it’s late."
"No you can’t have a drink."
"Oh all right then,
but wait just a minute."
While I, in an effort to babysit,
catch up on my breath,
What there is left of it.
You can be murder
at this hour of the day.
But in the morning the sun
will see my lifetime away.
Oh, Clair
Clair
Oh, Clair

Love is a Battlefield; Pat Benatar

"Pat Benatar is an American singer and four time Grammy winner. She had considerable commercial success particularly in the United States". ¹

"'Love Is a Battlefield' is a song written by Holly Knight and Mike Chapman, after Pat Benatar asked Chapman to write her a hit song. It was released as a single from Benatar's album Live from Earth, which was popular in 1983 and 1984. The single has been certified gold and is her highest charting single in the United States, as it topped Billboard's Mainstream Rock Tracks chart for four weeks and made number five on the Billboard Hot 100. It topped the Australian singles chart for five weeks in 1984. The song was finally released in the United Kingdom in March 1985 and reached #17.

"The music video, which depicted Benatar as a teenage runaway trying to survive the mean streets of New York City, was nominated for an MTV Video Music Award for Best Female Video and was viewable on the DVD for the movie 13 Going on 30. The single was unlike most of Benatar's previous work, as it featured an electronic dance element, but guitars and drums were still present. The song won Benatar a Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance."²

We are young, heartache to heartache we stand
No promises, no demands
Love is a battlefield

We are strong, no one can tell us we're wrong
Searchin' our hearts for so long, both of us knowing
Love is a battlefield

You're beggin' me to go, you're makin' me stay
Why do you hurt me so bad?
It would help me to know
Do I stand in your way, or am I the best thing you've had?
Believe me, believe me, I can't tell you why
But I'm trapped by your love, and I'm chained to your side

We are young, heartache to heartache we stand
No promises, no demands
Love is a battlefield

We are strong, no one can tell us we're wrong
Searchin' our hearts for so long, both of us knowing
Love is a battlefield

We're losing control
Will you turn me away or touch me deep inside?
And before this gets old, will it still feel the same?
There's no way this will die
But if we get much closer, I could lose control
And if your heart surrenders, you'll need me to hold

We are young, heartache to heartache we stand
No promises, no demands
Love is a battlefield

We are strong, no one can tell us we're wrong
Searchin' our hearts for so long, both of us knowing
Love is a battlefield

We are young, heartache to heartache we stand
No promises, no demands
Love is a battlefield

We are strong, no one can tell us we're wrong
Searchin' our hearts for so long, both of us knowing
Love is a battlefield

Raid the Radio; General Elektriks

General Elektriks is the codename for the French music artist Hervé Salters who, despite being French lives in California, USA, for more than ten years. There, in Berkeley, he released his album "Good City for Dreamers", which received many many many good critics.

"Raid the Radio" is the track #2. Someone told me, here in this same blog, that the whistling song "Let's Go Surfing" by The Drums is sampled from this one. Well, they are quite similar, but I didn't find any information on the internet about this "sampling".

With you, RAID THE RADIO!

Raid the radio!
'Cause we're tired of hearing the same old song
We're gonna change the dial of something new
Bring some truth to this town

Call your station, tell them we're coming
Imagination, is what were demanding
We won't stray, you'll hear us scream and shout
Till they play, songs we can dream about...
Across the nation, dance to a different drum

Raid the radio!
'Cause we're tired of hearing the same old song
We're gonna change the dial to something new
Bring some truth to this town

Free the DJ's, burn the ties
Let the music the play electrify
Bring out the poets, bring out the punks
Watch them give rise to a brand new funk
Across the nation, dance to a different drum

Raid the radio!
'Cause we're tired of hearing the same old song
We're gonna change the dial to something new
Bring some truth to this town

You Got My Heart; Dalimas

Good luck for you if you wanna find sometimes about this band on the internet. All I know it is Brazilian. (=

You've never meant to be
That might not be true
You never wanted to see
My love for you
That thing you said
That thing you do
The way you see me babe
I don't know
Wha'cha do!

I can feel your heart beat
When I look into your eyes
You can feel my love for you
And your feel
D'you love me, babe

Love!
You got ma'heart
You know it's true
Because I love you, babe
Love!
You got ma'heart
You know it's true
That's how I got you

Last time I'll call you
Ain't got no answer
I'm dreaming there with you
I'll keep it forever

You got my heart
It never stops
Beating for you
You got my love
You got my heart
It never stops
Beating for you
