Garota Vulgar; Neuzinha Brizola

Two days ago I posted about Gerard Smith's death. One friend of mine read it and intimated me to post one song with whistling about another person who had died this week. Her name is Neuzinha Brizola, she is a Brazilian singer and had only released one album, eponymous, from 1983. My friend realized that I wasn't write about her so early, so he offered himself to do it. He wrote about everything, except about the song with whistling, so I ain't translating the article. If you liked Brizola's whistled song, go to Google Translate and do the dirty job... LOL

With you, Thiago Cezário:

Back In The U.S.S.R.”? Acreditem!

The wolf whistle is in 1:25". ^^

Quando ela anda pela rua
olhando a vitrine sem ter nada a fazer
gastando a mesada do papai, ai ai.
É uma mina que não tem nada a ver
frequenta a praia lá no Beverly Hills
adora ser calunia social
e saí por aí todo o dia a desfilar
e a noite sempre está no Chico's Bar.

Garota vulgar, modelito caviar
madame seu futuro é devagar
Quando ela anda seminua
no country, na praia ela quer faturar
gastando a mesada do papai, ai ai
é uma mina que não tem nada a ver
frequenta o ico e o castel também, viu?
adora ser calunia social
e saí por aí todo o dia a desfilar
e a noite sempre está no chico's bar.

Garota vulgar, modelito caviar
madame teu futuro é devagar

Garota vulgar, modelito caviar

If You Could Speak; God Help the Girl

Today is so Belle and Sebastian! It’s winter, it’s cold, I’m drinking hot chocolate... Only one thing is missing to complete this scenario: to be in love! Well, while my heart doesn’t fall in love with a gorgeous crop girl, the way is content myself with the beautiful voice and melodies of these charming nine girls invited to sing with Stuart Murdoch in his musical project called “God Help the Girl.”

In the band’s website we can read that God Help the Girl arose from Murdoch’s wishes of having female vocals sing some songs he wrote: “I was out for a run and I got this tune in my head and it occurred to me that it wasn’t a Belle and Sebastian song. I could hear female voices and strings, I could hear the whole thing, but I just couldn’t envisage myself singing it with the group.

The website still says: “a total of nine different singers (including Neil Hannon from the Divine Comedy and Asya from American teen trio, Smoosh) joining the members of Belle and Sebastian over the course of a few months. (…) The result is a breathtaking record from one of pop’s most singular voices, combining the strengths and feel of the early Belle and Sebastian records in a broader musical palette, which draws equally on musicals, sixties’ girl groups, eighties’ indie and, most of all, classic pop records.

I got out of bed
And came here for adventure
I stepped on a stone on the way
I took off my shoe
And a dog came towards me
Wagging his tail happily

Dog, if you could speak
You'd know what to do
Simply turn around and run
Dog, if you could speak
You'd bury your bone
And you'd show me the way back home

Got out of bed
And I put on my sunsuit
Blue checky short and a dress
Nothing was left for a girl in pajamas
No breakfast, no kindness, no game

Girl, if you could speak
You'd know what to do
Ages left a gift with you,
Rent the cheap second-hand crystal ball
I will trust my future to you

I got out of bed when the springs wouldn't have me
If I held me up like a guy
Fed into my soup
And I walked out to breakfast
Green leafs and blue sky and sun

Boy, if you could speak
You'd know what to do
You'd say "Don't let the wall core out"
Remember all you saw and tell it back
In the stories when the day is done
Remember all you saw and tell it back
In the stories when the day is done

Forgotten; TV On the Radio

Last week a musician died. He was suffering from terminal lung cancer and could not resist. However, he managed to resist until the latest album from his band come to light. His name was Gerard Smith. He left us and his band TV On the Radio at 36 years. This post is a tribute from this blog to him.¹

In the band's website they say: “this TV On The Radio album, NineTypes of Light (Interscope), isa lush and beautiful album that stands apart from the group's previous work. If their other albums had shades of dystopia and distress, this album, sung by Tunde Adebimpe and Kyp Malone, is filled with songs about longing and love. 'I like love songs. There's nothing particularly interesting going on with me in my life to bear this work. I like the forms of love songs, the poetry.' Kyp adds that though there might be more 'positivity' on this album, it wasn't an overall conceit they set out to do. 'We've attempted to work on themes before but they fall apart very quickly. More organic versions arise because we're sharing time or space or communication.'

Gerard Smith gave his opinion: “It was such an intense experience – not bad or goodnecessarily, just intense. I spent a lot of time after that writing and drawingpictures. It allows us to do the other things wewant to do, or to just decompress, and then come back to the band with somefocus. We don't ever want to feel like we have to do this, that it's a job, necessarily.

Beverly Hills, burning of plastic
Scraped it away, I do, I may
For the summer
For the summer

Here goes your man, dances the hourly
Cape land to colors rolling through the valley
For the summer
For the summer

Hold tight, horizon minds
It’s writing its name in the sky
It’s paradise
We fade away into the night

Beverly Hills, nuclear winter
What should we wear and who’s for dinner?
In the summer
For the summer

Hold tight, our love will fade out
It’s writing its name in the sky
And I’ll stop and stare
We’ll fade away into the night

It’s paradise
For now we go under the knife
For one time, oh, some doctors
Divided by night time

Let’s do it for the summer, send for the sunrise
Let’s do it for the summer, send for the sunrise
Let’s do it for the summer, send for the sunrise
Let’s do it for the summer, send for the sunrise

“We are very sad to announce the death of our beloved friend and bandmate, Gerard Smith, following a courageous fight against lung cancer. Gerard passed away the morning of April 20th, 2011. We will miss him terribly.”

Good Life; OneRepublic

Seeing the statitics of Google's research that lead to my blog, I found that the majority of people who come here is looking for "songs with whistling from 2011". So I am seeking for these brand new songs. That was how I discovered the whistling song of today!

But it's not from 2011. Actually, my sources don't come to an agreement... Vevo's channel on YouTube states that the "Good Life" music video is from this year; Wikipedia's says that it was released in 2010; and on Amazon we can see the album was released in 2009. Well, let's stay with the last one.

AllMusic Guides explains the band's rising: "[Ryan] Tedder and Zach Filkins formed the band in 2002 and relocated to Los Angeles shortly thereafter, adding keyboardist Drew Brown, bassist/cellist Brent Kutzle, and drummer Eddie Fisher to the lineup in the process. OneRepublic then signed with Sony BMG's Columbia label in 2003". Also says "Later that year, OneRepublic stepped out on their own with Dreaming Out Loud, a debut album filled with piano-fueled songwriting and pop/rock melodies. The album quickly went gold, and 'Apologize' continued to top the singles charts in multiple countries. Another Tedder-penned track, Leona Lewis' 'Bleeding Love,' experienced similar success at the same time, thus making Tedder one of the year's most celebrated songwriters. OneRepublic began writing songs for a second album in 2008, and the group later decamped to Colorado Springs to avoid outside distractions. Although initially planned for a summer release, Waking Up wasn't completed until September 2009. 'All the Right Moves,' the album's lead single, was released to radio that same month, while the entire album followed in November."

About the song, we can find on SongFacts.com that "OneRepublic frontman and principal songwriter Ryan Tedder has penned a number of smash hits both for his band ('Apologize') and for other artists 'Bleeding Love'). In an interview with NPR about the art of songwriting, he discussed writing hooks and explained it didn't necessarily have to be the chorus like in the case of this song. Said Tedder: 'The hook can be the track itself. Like in Coldplay, 'Clocks' the hook was [hums the opening piano riff] — that was the hook. In [Black Eyed Peas'] 'Boom Boom Pow,' there is no hook. It is just one section after another of really catchy, infectious club music without any one section overriding the next.

"In the upcoming single, 'Good Life,' the real hook is the post hook — it's what comes after it. We have this REALLY super simple whistle. I hadn't heard a whistle in a song in forever and that's all I kept hearing on the song so I just whistled this melody into the mic and it really is the hook — it's the catchiest part of the song."

Woke up in London yesterday
Found myself in the city near Piccadilly
Don't really know how I got here
I got some pictures on my phone

New names and numbers that I don't know
Address to places like Abbey Road
Day turns to night, night turns to whatever we want
We're young enough to say

Oh this has gotta be the good life
This has gotta be the good life
This could really be a good life, good life

Say oh, got this feeling that you can't fight
Like this city is on fire tonight
This could really be a good life
A good, good life

To my friends in New York, I say hello
My friends in L.A. they don't know
Where I've been for the past few years or so
Paris to China to Col-or-ado

Sometimes there's airplanes I can' t jump out
Sometimes there's bullshit that don't work now
We are god of stories but please tell me-e-e-e
What there is to complain about

When you're happy like a fool
Let it take you over
When everything is out
You gotta take it in

Oh this has gotta be the good life
This has gotta be the good life
This could really be a good life, good life

Say oh, got this feeling that you can't fight
Like this city is on fire tonight
This could really be a good life
A good, good life

Hopelessly
I feel like there might be something that I'll miss
Hopelessly
I feel like the window closes oh so quick
Hopelessly
I'm taking a mental picture of you now
'Cos hopelessly
The hope is we have so much to feel good about.

Oh this has gotta be the good life
This has gotta be the good life
This could really be a good life, good life

Say oh, got this feeling that you can't fight
Like this city is on fire tonight
This could really be a good life
A good, good life

Working On a Dream; Bruce Springsteen

Bruce Springsteen said, "Towards the end of recording 'Magic,' excited by the return to pop production sounds, I continued writing. When my friend producer Brendan O'Brien heard the new songs, he said, 'Let's keep going.' Over the course of the next year, that's just what we did, recording with the E Street Band during the breaks on last year's tour. I hope Working on a Dream has caught the energy of the band fresh off the road from some of the most exciting shows we've ever done. All the songs were written quickly, we usually used one of our first few takes, and we all had a blast making this one from beginning to end."

According to SongFacts.com, "Springsteen initially debuted this song in acoustic form, while he was on the road supporting Barack Obama during the presidential elections. The studio version was premiered during halftime on the NBC broadcast of the Dallas Cowboys/Washington Redskins football game."

The song's Wikipedia article also states that "the song's sunny lyric develops what Rolling Stone called "a rare and timely moment of unabashed optimism" for Springsteen, possibly connected to the impending arrival of the Barack Obama administration."

The whistling is done by Bruce himself. As he says in the video below (on which he dedicated the song to then senator Barack Obama), that's "professional whistling"! LOL. He appears singing with his wife, Patti Scialfa.

Out here the nights are long, the days are lonely
I think of you and i'm working on a dream
I'm working on a dream

Now the cards i've drawn's a rough hand, darling
I straighten the back and i'm working on a dream
I'm working on a dream

Come on!

I'm working on a dream
Though sometimes it feels so far away
I'm working on a dream
And i know it will be mine someday

Rain pourin' down, i swing my hammer
My hands are rough from working on a dream
I'm working on a dream

Let's go!

I'm working on a dream
Though trouble can feel like it's here to stay
I'm working on a dream
Well our love will chase trouble away

Alright!

That's professional whistling right there!

I'm working on a dream
Though it can feel so far away
I'm working on a dream
Our love will make it real someday

The sun rise up, i climb the ladder
The new day breaks and i'm working on a dream
I'm working on a dream
I'm working on a dream
I'm working on a dream

Hey!

I'm working on a dream
Though it can feel so far away
I'm working on a dream
Our love will make it real someday
I'm working on a dream
Though it can feel so far away
I'm working on a dream
And our love will make it real someday

Can See Miles; I'm from Barcelona

Yay! They released a new album this year! And this one, "Forever Today," has the whole first album's wave and cuteness! I will post everything about this song afterwards, when everything-about-this-song become available on internet. I mean music video, lyrics, interviews...

For now, let's appreciate one more whistling song of the best twee pop band ever!

Don't get attracted by their talk
Don't let them get to you
Don't fall in love with what they say
Don't let them get to you

Because they're pretty and they're smart
Don't let them get to you
You got to stay true to your heart
Don't let them get to you

Can see miles
Can see miles
Can see miles
With your own
Little eyes
Little eyes

You better open up your eyes
Don't let them get to you
You got to read between the lines
Don't let them get to you

Because they're pretty and they're smart
Don't let them get to you
You got to stay true to your heart
Don't let them get to you

Can see miles
Can see miles
Can see miles
With your own
Little eyes

Friday; Rebecca Black

Friday! Everybody's lookin' forward to the weekend! haha

Nooooo... I didn't yeild to Rebecca Black! But I'm giving a damn if it is or not THE WORST SONG IN THE WORLD! "Friday" is creep and funny, but extremely catchy! Now I know why even Jonas Brothers and GLEE covered this song! LOL

I ain't tell you the story and meaning of this song, everybody knows it, but if you don't, please check here, here and here.

What I am going to state is (before everybody complains) that the wolf whistling in "Friday" cannot be real. It seems to be autotuned... BUT, if we think about it, Rebecca's voice was autotuned in the whole song! xD

BTW, the whistling is in the very beginning, so if you can't listen to "Friday" for more than 10 seconds, you're safe.

(Yeah, Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah-Ark)
Oo-ooh-ooh, hoo yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
Yeah-ah-ah
Yeah-ah-ah
Yeah-ah-ah
Yeah-ah-ah
Yeah, yeah, yeah

Seven a.m., waking up in the morning
Gotta be fresh, gotta go downstairs
Gotta have my bowl, gotta have cereal
Seein' everything, the time is goin'
Tickin' on and on, everybody's rushin'
Gotta get down to the bus stop
Gotta catch my bus, I see my friends (My friends)

Sittin' in the back seat
Gotta make my mind up
Which seat can I take?

Gettin' down on Friday
Everybody's lookin' forward to the weekend

Partyin', partyin' (Yeah)

Pumped Up Kicks; Foster The People

A friend of mine also watched Coachella online and caught himself hearing a catchy whistling during the last song performed by this Californian indie band recently formed: Foster the People.

The band, formed in 2009 by the trio Mark Foster, Mark Pontius and Cubbie Fink, released only one single and one EP. The song is "Pumped Up Kicks". I don't like to compare, but "Pumped Up Kicks" (and more generally, the band sound) is a mix of Peter, Bjorn and John and MGMT. :)

Here's the website and the MySpace of this brand new promising indie band.

Robert's got a quick hand
He'll look around the room he won't tell you his plan
He's got a rolled cigarette
Hanging out his mouth he's a cowboy kid

Yeah he found a six shooter gun
In his dad's closet in a box of fun things
And i don't even know what
But he's coming for you, yeah he's coming for you

All the other kids with the pumped up kicks
You better run, better run, outrun my gun
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks
Better run, better run faster than my bullet

Daddy works a long day
He be coming home late, yeah he's coming home late
And he's bring me a surprise
Cause dinner's in the kitchen and it's packed in ice

I've waited for a long time
Yeah the slight of my hand is now a quick pull trigger
I reason with my cigarette
Then say your hair's on fire you must have lost your wits yeah

All the other kids with the pumped up kicks
You better run, better run, outrun my gun
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks
Better run, better run faster than my bullet

The Lazy Song; Bruno Mars

Sunday afternoon I was watching MTV Brazil, especifically Acesso MTV, with the beautiful VJs Marimoon and Titi, and I just heard this song. The girls said the music video was released April 15, a few days ago indeed. It reached on Youtube more than 1,1 million views hitherto (I have just learned this word :P).

Bruno Mars, whoise real name is Peter Gene Hernandez born in Hawaii and, according to Wikipedia, he "was raised by a family of musicians", "moved to Los Angeles", "joining (...) the Smeezingtons". Later "he became recognized as a solo artist" and "in October 2010, he released his debut album, Doo-Wops and Hooligans."

Still quoting Wikipedia, "'The Lazy Song' was written by Mars, Philip Lawrence, Ari Levine and K'naan, while produced by The Smeezingtons. The song has roots reggae and jawaiian influences, with elements of pop and R&B.[3] The song has a moderate reggae beat."

As you can check on the music video, it's our first time that the whistlings are made by monkeys! LOL

Today I don't fell like doing anything
I just wanna lay in my bed
Don't fell like pickin up my phone
So leave a message at the tone
'Cause today I swear I'm not doing anything

I'm gonna kick my feet up, then stare at the fan
Turn the TV on, throw my hand in my pants
Nobody's gonna tell me I can't
(Naahh)
I'll be lounging on a couch, just chillin in my snuggie
Click to MTV so they can teach me how to Douggie,
'Cause in my castle I'm the freakin man

Ooooh
Yes I said it
I said it
I said it 'cause I can!

Today I don't fell like doing anything
I just wanna lay in my bed
Don't fell like pickin up my phone
So leave a message at the tone
'Cause today I swear I'm not doing anything
(Nothing at all)

Huhul, huhuuuul
(Nothing at all)
Huhuuul, huhuuul

Tomorrow I wake up
Do some P90x
Meet a really nice girl
Have some really nice sex
And she's gonna sream out this is great
(Oh my God, this is great)

Yeeaah
I might mess around
And get my college dregree,
I bet my old man will be so pround of me.
But sorry paps you'll just have to wait

Ooooh
Yes I said it
I said it
I said it 'cause I can!

Today I don't fell like doing anything
I just wanna lay in my bed
Don't fell like pickin up my phone
So leave a message at the tone
'Cause today I swear I'm not doing anything

No, I ain't gonna comb my hair.
'Cause I ain't going anywhere
No, no, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, ooooh

I'll just strut in my birthday suit,
and let everything hang loose
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeeeaaah

Oooh, today I don't fell like doing anything
I just wanna lay in my bed
Don't fell like pickin up my phone
So leave a message at the tone
'Cause today I swear I'm not doing anything
(Nothing at all)

Huhul, huhuuuul

Lippy Kids; Elbow

Coachella rocked this weekend! There were many many many amazing rock/indie/weird artists and bands playing for three days. The Strokes, PJ Harvey, Duran Duran, Trentemoller, Warpaint... and etc, etc, etc.

For those who couldn't go at California, the Youtube provided us (at Coachella's channel) three channels to follow Coachella alive! I met great bands in there: Gogol Bordello, Big Audio Dynamite, The New Pornographers and Elbow.

This chubby guy, Guy Garvey, has a powerful voice! He enchanted me! Elbow's songs have a lot of romantic groove mixed with a high-end rock beat! And guess what?! He whistled! The whole audience went into frenzy. For sure! I'm looking for the Coachella's video to put here.

I found on Elbow.HeavenForum.com an interview to Q Magazine about Elbow's 2011 album, Build a Rocket Boys!, released in March, and I'll transcribe here the fragment that interests us:

"Ideas of friendship, community and teenage years began to colour the 30 odd tracks in consideration. Key song Lippy Kids is written in defence of the British teenager. It's what Garvey describes as 'the anti-hoody shit that goes on in the media, the thought that if you hang around on a street comer you're a criminal'."

Below a live performance at Blueprint Studios. ;)

Lippy kids on the corner again
Lippy kids on the corner begin
Settling like crows
And I never perfected that simian stroll
The cigarettes and it was everything then

Do they know those days are golden?
Build a rocket boys
Build a rocket boys!

One more tune
I came down from the trees
Curbstone cool
You are freshly painted angel
Walking on walls
Stealing booze and down long hungry kisses
And Nobody knew me at home any more

Build a rocket boys!
Build a rocket boys
Build a rocket boys!

Lippy kids on the corner again
Lippy kids on the corner begin
Settling like crows
And I never affected that simian stroll
No

Do they know those days are golden?
Build a rocket boys
Build a rocket boys!

One long tune. I came down from the trees
Curbstone cool
You are freshly painted angel
Walking on walls
Stealing booze and down long hungry kisses
And nobody knows me at home anymore

Build a rocket boys!
Build a rocket boys
Build a rocket boys!

P.S. I spent a long time saying that the band ENCORE was going to play... hahaha... "Oh! But this ENCORE again?!" LOL

In the Morning; Club 8

"In the Morning" is in the same album "Whatever You Want Is" and it has as lack of information in internet as the previous song. :(

I got away in the morning light
After staying awake all night
I saw that man standing by the sea
I'm coming back here anyway, uh huh

Well, I want to get good
But I've been doing it wrong
I do what I do, but I don't understand it
I see and I hear but I don't know what you demand
Help me

A gentle wake can save a life
You looked away and opened my eyes
But I remember every word I spoke
It still cuts like a sharpened knife, uh huh

Well, I want to get good
But I've been doing it wrong
I do what I do, but I don't understand it
I see and I hear but I don't know what you demand
Help me

I was sold from the start

Whatever You Want; Club 8

According to AllMusic Guide, this band was "formed in 1995, Club 8 became one of the pillars of Sweden’s pop scene with a string of melodic, eclectic albums. Members Karolina Komstedt and Johan Angergård had previously worked together in the band Poprace, and their new group — which began as a recording project before growing into a full-fledged touring band — explored everything from bossa nova to trip-hop."

Club 8 have seven studio albums since 1996. Its sixth, "The Boy Who Couldn't Stop Dreaming", contains "Whatever You Want". There is a quickly interview about this album on the Indonesian webmagazine Death Rock Star", but nothing is said about this song. :(

am I ok here?
I think you ought to know this
another day
not unlike any other
it's been like this so long

are you ok dear?
I know I should have noticed
a quiet day
not unlike any other
it's been like this so long

whatever you want from me
whoever I try to be

I will never be there
I can never be her
in your society

am I ok dear?
I think you want to know this
duties I leave
not to take on another

and if I don't fall this night
I will have to go along
unless something strange will happen

there's still something to be done
this story will go on for long

Vulnerable; Roxette

Let's fly straight to Sweden! Roxette is back here! Now with the song “Vulnerable” from its fifth studio album called “Crash! Boom! Bang!”.

I wrote here before “'Joyride' is the only one, if my researches don't fail, which there is whistles.” Well, it failed. LOL

The following note is from TheLookForRoxette.com: "Vulnerable was the fifth single from Roxette's album Crash! Boom! Bang!. The song was written in 1990 but it was too late to be included on the album Joyride. The song was considered to be included on the album Tourism but it was kept until the recording of the album Crash! Boom! Bang! started."

Everywhere I look I see her smile
Her absent-minded eyes
And she has kept me wondering for so long
How this thing could go wrong

It seems to me that we are both the same
Playing the same game
But as darkness falls this true love falls apart
Into a riddle of her heart

She's so vulnerable, like china in my hands
She's so vulnerable, and I don't understand
I could never hurt the one I love
She's all I've got
But she's so vulnerable
Oh so vulnerable

Days like these no one should be alone
No heart should hide away
Her touch is gently conquering my mind
There's nothing words can say

She's colored with all the secrets of my soul
I've whispered all my dreams
But just as nighttime falls this vision falls apart
Into a riddle of her heart, yea

She's so vulnerable, like china in my hands
She's so vulnerable and I don't understand
I could never hurt someone I love
She's all I've got
But she's so vulnerable
Oh so vulnerable.

Don't hide your eyes...

That Smell; Lynyrd Skynyrd

Talking about American southern rock, I couldn't omit Lynyrd Skynyrd, the best known example of this particular sound.

"Lynyrd Skynyrd is an American rock band, formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1964. The band became prominent in the Southern United States in 1973, and rose to worldwide recognition. Three members and one road crew member died in an airplane crash in 1977; the band reformed in 1987 for a reunion tour with lead singer Ronnie Van Zant's younger brother Johnny as the frontman. Lynyrd Skynyrd continues to tour and record. Of its original members, only Gary Rossington remains with the band as of 2011. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 13, 2006."

"That Smell" is a song by the southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd. Written by Ronnie Van Zant and guitarist Allen Collins, it was released in 1977 on the album Street Survivors. At the time the song was written, the band had been drinking and doing many different drugs. Van Zant had said that he started drinking heavily to relieve the pressure of performing in front of large audiences.¹

According to Songfacts.com, "This is about Skynyrd guitarist Gary Rossington, who bought a new car, got drunk, and crashed it into a tree, then a house ("whiskey bottles, brand new car, oak tree you're in my way"). The band was supposed to start a tour in a few days, but had to postpone it because of Rossington." And "here is a saying among "H" users that the smell of cooking the Heroin brings you right back to shooting it. Everyone was able to kick except for Allen. After the car accident Allen's habit was worse than ever and caused him to die of pneumonia."

"That Smell" has one tiny wolf whistle right in the middle (3:48), one second and it's done... well, it worths and here it is:

Whiskey bottles and brand new cars;
oak tree you're in my way.
There's too much coke and too much smoke
Look what's going on inside you.

Ooh, ooh that smell
Can't you smell that smell?
Ooh, ooh that smell
The smell of death surrounds you.

Yeah.
Angel of darkness is upon you.
Stuck a needle in your arm (you, fool, you)
So take another toke, have a blow for your nose,
one more drink, fool, would drown you. (hell, yeah)

Ooh, ooh that smell
Can't you smell that smell?
Ooh, ooh that smell
The smell of death surrounds you.

Now they call you prince charming.
Can't speak a word when you're full of 'ludes.
Say you'll be alright come tomorrow, but
tomorrow might not be here for you. (yeah, you)

Ooh, ooh that smell
Can't you smell that smell?
Ooh, ooh that smell
The smell of death surrounds you.

Aw, you, fool, you.
You stick them needles in your arm
I know I been there before.

One little problem that confronts you,
got a monkey on your back.
Just one more fix, Lord, might do the trick.
One hell of a price for you to get your kicks. (hell, yeah)

Ooh, ooh that smell
Can't you smell that smell?
Ooh, ooh that smell
The smell of death surrounds you.

Oh, you, fool, you
Don't stick those needles in your arm.
You're just a fool, just a fool, just a fool.

Truth Be Known; Black Oak Arkansas

Okay! Let's get restarted with some indications from people here and there. The lattest was "Truth Be Known" by this southern/classic rock band from (guess where!) Black Oak, Arkansas, USA. The band's name is simple (it borders the ordinary) and unexpectedly original.

Here is the band's MySpace and website ready to access. And if you can read in Portuguese you can know more about B.O.A. in the following article in Whiplash.net.

The whistling is this song is right in the beginnning; it's as romantic as southern ballads can be. "Truth Be Known" was released in the 1999 album "Wild Bunch" as we can see here. It seems Black Oak Arkansas changed it's integrants a lot, there were dozens of members, so I think it'll be hard to know who whistles... If I even couldn't find the lyrics of the song! If anyone knows, please send me!

See ya tomorrow!
